Early Life & Musical Start
Quincy Jones first appeared on the earth on 14th of March 1933 in Chicago Illinois. He was raised in a musical family with all kinds of music from jazz classical and R&B. His gift was apparent from an early age, soon he was playing with jazz masters Dizzy Gillespie and Lionel Hampton.
A Music Producer
In the 1950s, Jones career blossomed as he moved into New York and began arraging and conducting for label giants. The way he produced music and mixed genres completely reshaped the landscape. He collaborated with and elevated the music of legends such as Frank Sinatra Ray Charles and Sarah Vaughan.
The “Thriller” Era and Beyond
Then in the 1980s, Quincy Jones went even further with Michael Jackson’s Thriller. It sealed Jones’s rep as a producer with that album which sold millions of copies and became the highest selling album of all time. He was able to create an album that felt seamless and radio-friendly and yet take the music production further than anyone else could.
That was just one example of Jones being a bad music producer. He wrote for several movies and TV shows like The Color Purple, In the Heat of the Night and Roots. He received bulk acclaim for his work for stage along with a couple of Grammys and Oscar nominations.
