The Bronx Bombers catch an unlucky break Win 2024 World Series
The New York Yankees saw their World Series dreams dashed after the Los Angeles Dodgers lost Game of the series. After taking a 4-1 lead into the eighth inning, however, late-inning defensive lapses by New York and two other home runs allowed the Astros to tie before walking off with an extra innings Win 2024 World Series.
A Game to Remember
- Game 5 was a wild ride with both teams trading blows all night. The Yankees jumped out to a 5-0 lead and seemed to have the series in hand. But the Dodgers came back to score 5 in the 5th to tie the game. Big defensive mistakes by the Yankees including a huge error by Aaron Judge opened the door for the Dodgers comeback.
- The Dodgers added two more in the 8th to take a 7-6 lead. The Yankees had one last chance to tie in the 9th but the Dodgers bullpen shut the door.
What Went Wrong for the Yankees?
- Defensive Miscues: The Yankees defense which is usually a strength was error prone all series. Those mistakes hurt big time especially in big moments.
- Bullpen Blows: The Yankees bullpen which has been great all year failed in big situations. They couldn’t hold leads.
- Offense went cold: While the Yankees offense was great at times they couldn’t produce runs consistently. They couldn’t cash in on scoring opportunities.
Looking Ahead
- Despite the tough loss the Yankees are one of the most historic franchises in baseball. With a great roster and a loyal fanbase they’ll be contenders for years to come. But this World Series loss is a reminder that even the best teams have setbacks.
- As the Yankees head into the offseason they’ll need to address their weaknesses and make adjustments to be successful. Whether it’s through roster moves, coaching or player development they need to find a way to overcome the things that have been holding them back the last few years.
